Paneer momos are a popular Indian street food dish that consists of steamed dumplings filled with crumbled paneer cheese and a variety of vegetables such as onions, cabbage, carrots, and bell peppers. The filling is seasoned with spices and herbs like ginger, garlic, and coriander. The momos are usually served with a spicy dipping sauce made from red chili powder, tomato puree, and soy sauce.
Ingredients:
For the Dough:
– 1 cup all-purpose flour
– ¼ tsp salt
– 1 tbsp oil
– Water, as required
For the Stuffing:
– 1 cup grated paneer
– 1 medium onion, finely chopped
– 1-2 green chillies, finely chopped
– 1 tbsp grated ginger
– Salt, to taste
– 1 tsp red chilli powder
– ½ tsp garam masala powder
– 1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
For the dip:
– 2 tbsp soy sauce
– 1 tbsp vinegar
– 1 tsp red chilli flakes
– 1 tsp sugar
Instructions:
1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, oil and water gradually to make a smooth dough. Cover with a wet cloth and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.
2. In another bowl, mix together grated paneer, onion, green chillies, ginger, salt, red chilli powder, garam masala and coriander leaves to make the stuffing.
3. Divide the dough into equal-sized balls and roll each ball into a thin circular disc.
4. Place a spoonful of stuffing in the centre of each disc and gather the edges to form pleats on top.
5. Steam the momos for 10-12 minutes or until cooked.
6. For the dip, mix soy sauce, vinegar, red chilli flakes and sugar in a bowl.
7. Serve hot with the dipping sauce.
